Student Member

Student membership is suitable for trainees who are currently studying to become a lipspeaker. ALS does not provide lipspeaker training courses for beginners but can signpost to the relevant centres. 

Students can join at any time. Membership is free until you are qualified. You will be eligible to apply for full membership once you have received your level 3 certificate and have registered with the National Register of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People (NRCPD).

  • Meet with experienced lipspeakers, who are always keen to welcome, encourage and advise trainees. 
  • Attend the ALS AGM, gaining an insight into the important work carried out by the committee throughout the year.
    • All members are required to complete and return both membership and data protection form and will need to be returned to the membership secretary

    The ALS steering group is made up of working lipspeakers, volunteering their time. It is not always possible to respond to queries immediately, but we will certainly do our best to respond as soon as possible.
