Sara Scanlon

Sara is a Level 3 Lipspeaker and a member of the National Register of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind people (NRCPD). She is a mentor for lipspeakers in training and in their early years in the profession.

Sara was a leading member of the small team who designed and taught the Tutor and Course Building training course for the CACDP T301 Lipspeaking Skills Unit at Manchester Metropolitan University. She teaches a variety of training courses and clear communication/lipspeaking awareness training days. Sara also works with Royal National Institute for Deaf people (RNID) in developing a sustainable training programme for lipspeakers in the South of England.

A member of the Independent Registration Panel she continues to work with RNID on their Access to Communication in English (ACE) campaign. She is a serving member of her professional organisation as the Hon Secretary of the Association of Lipspeakers, having already served as Chair in previous years.

In her spare time Sara takes assignments as the lipspeaker guide on Hearing Concern group holidays for deaf and hard of hearing people travelling abroad.

For over ten years Sara has carried out all of this work in a quiet and professional manner that brings great credit to the profession and admiration from both her colleagues & clients alike.
